Leith Walk

We've been on different parts of the Leith Walk many times, but this time we started near where we live and walked past Dean Village to Stockbridge, then we rode the bus home.

Parts of the walk are very beautiful!

This is Dean Village, a scenic part of the city.

QUEEN'S PROCESSION, ETC.

We watched teh YA devotional by Elder and Sister Renlund for FHE Monday. There was taco soup and games afterward.

I went to a Stake Relief Society activity Saturday that was pretty good. I went to one last year, but we were still wearing masks, and not as many people came. This is a cupcake decorating contest.

This is speed-friending where you get to know pwople pretty fast.

We saw and heard the cannons being shot off in the Queen's honor.

We decided to brave the crowds on the Royal Mile, where the procession with the Queen's body was happening Monday. We couldn't stay for the procession part of it, and we almost got trapped in the crowd when they quit letting anyone leave, but we were able to sneak past a guard and leave. We didn't take the pictures of the actual procession, just the ones of the crowds.

I didn't take these photos of the actual procession. It started at the Holyrood Palace, at the bottom of the Royal mile, and went up to St. Gile's Cathedral, which is near the top of it. Her body laid in state there for 24 hours so the public could pay their respects.

We went to the Royal Mile again Thursday for part of our 43rd anniversary celebration.

THE QUEEN DIES

The historic news this week is that Queen Elizabeth died Thursday. She was very beloved by the British people, having reigned for 70 years. They have protocols in place, including Operation Unicorn, with contingencies for her death in Scotland. She died at Balmoral, her summer retreat, and her body will lay in state at St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh for one or two days before going to London. We probably won't see anything, because it will be so crowded in the city that it wouldn't be worth trying to get in.

Sarita and the kids made this cute cheese hedgehog.

We found some interesting yard decorations while we were out on our walk

We went to this pretty falls called the Loup of Fintry
Lake Carron

SEPTEMBER

We went to a Young Adult conference in Aviemore over the weekend. Saturday night they had a ceilidh band come in so they could dance.

We didn't dance, but we went for awhile.

Holly and Courtney.

We were in charge of games and s'mores Friday night.

Aaron and Kevin having a game of chess.
We arrived early, so walked around the place for a while. After Charles tried going across the water on the rings, we had to walk around so he could get dry.
Some of the YA's had to sleep in little mummy sleeping bags in these pods, far away from restrooms, but they didn't complain.
Others got to stay in the lodges with beds and bathrooms. We were fortunatel to be in one with a private bathroom.

We took Andrea and Iian out for dinner to try to thank them for all of Andrea's help with Charles passing his driving test. The restaurant was on the grounds of an old manor, and we found a couple of fine Highland Coos (or bulls in this case) out in the pasture.
I got a birthday card from Tessa in the mail with a very cute little pony drawn on it. I hung it up under the picture she drew for me when she visited in April
