FAMILY VISIT

Abby, Tessa, and Carly came to visit us for a week, and we really enjoyed having them here. We haven't been with any of our family for almost nine months, so it was a real treat. We took them all over seeing the sights in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. This picture is in front of the Edinburgh Castle.

We had to get an iconic red phone booth photo!
Abby and Kevin have a tradition of reading to the children each night, for the week before Easter about what happened to Christ leading up to the crucifixion. Abby brought a book so they could carry that on while they were here.

Tessa became pretty attached to Carly during the week. She really loves her doting aunt!

This is Victoria Street, where we looked around on the day we explored the historic part of Edinburgh. We rode a double-decker bus to get there, and I got ot share with Tessa the delights of sitting on top.
This is the view from Stirling Castle.

The Elephant House is a cafe, or restaurant, where J.K. Rowling wrote much of Harry Potter. It was damaged in a fire shortly after we got here, so we haven't seen the inside of it. Hopefully, repairs will be completed soon.

We rented a car for a few days so we could go farther out of the city, and stopped by the Trossach Woolen Mills on the way to Loch Lomond and Glasgow. We got to see the Highland Cows (or bulls, as I think they really were).

We bought a little bag of vegetables, which lured the animals close to the fence. Charles fed one, but I though their noses and mouths were way to slimy to touch!
Here we are at the top of the Vennel steps with a view of the Edinburgh Castle in the background.
The Kelpies are a very imposing sight!
Usually Tessa didn't want to pose for a picture, but this shot is just about perfect.

Tessa brushing Carly's hair.
Tessa made a beach mermaid. I like to make beach cows, but mermaids are her thing. If she'd had enough time she would have outlined the whole thing in shells.
It was unicorn day at Stirling Castle, and these little ponies were impersonating unicorns. When I asked Tessa if unicorns are real, she said, "No- just the two at the castle!"
Another unicorn, but this was near the Kelpies.
